📚 Chapter two - The Journey of a Fragrance

Have you ever noticed that a fragrance seems to change over time? 

Perhaps you've melted a wax melt or lit a candle and thought... 

"That smells different now." 

You're not imagining it. 

Every beautiful fragrance tells a story, and just like a story, it unfolds in chapters. 

These chapters are known as the top, middle and base notes. 

Together, they create the complete fragrance experience. 

🍋 Top Notes – The First Impression 

Top notes are the very first scents you notice. 

They're bright, fresh and welcoming. 

Think of them as the friendly hello when you first meet someone. 

These notes often include fragrances like: 

🍋 Lemon 

🍊 Orange 

🍏 Apple 

🌿 Fresh herbs 

Because they're made from lighter fragrance molecules, they disappear quite quickly. 

Their job is to catch your attention and invite you into the fragrance. 

🌸 Middle Notes – The Heart of the Fragrance 

As the top notes begin to fade, the middle notes gently appear. 

These are often called the heart notes, because they form the main character of the fragrance. 

They bring warmth, balance and personality. 

You might recognise scents such as: 

🌹 Rose 

🌸 Jasmine 

🌺 Peony 

🍓 Fruity notes 

Lavender 

This is usually the part of the fragrance you'll enjoy for the longest. 

🌳 Base Notes – The Lasting Memory 

Finally come the base notes. 

These are rich, comforting and long-lasting. 

They're the notes that stay with you long after the first impression has gone. 

Think of: 

🌿 Sandalwood 

🍦 Vanilla 

🌰 Tonka Bean 

🌳 Cedarwood 

🍂 Amber 

These deeper notes give a fragrance its depth and help all the other notes blend beautifully together. 

🎼 Like listening to your favourite song 

I often think fragrance is a little like music. 

The opening notes catch your attention. 

The middle tells the story. 

The ending is the part you remember. 

Without each chapter, the fragrance wouldn't feel complete. 

That's one of the things I love most about creating home fragrance. 

Every wax melt and candle takes you on a little journey. 

From the first burst of freshness to the comforting notes that linger in your home, every stage has been carefully designed to create a beautiful experience.
