If you've visited Melting Moments before, you'll probably know there's one very important member of the team I haven't introduced properly... my cat.
Like so many pet owners, he's much more than a pet. He's family.
That means every decision I make about my home, including the fragrances I enjoy, is made with his wellbeing in mind.
That's why, when I first started making home fragrances, one of the questions I wanted to understand was how to enjoy beautiful scents responsibly in a home with animals.
It's a question I'm asked from time to time, and rightly so.
As pet owners, we all want our homes to smell lovely, but never at the expense of the animals we love. The good news is that many people enjoy wax melts and candles in homes with pets every day. The key is using them responsibly and always putting your pet's wellbeing first.
A few simple tips
🤍 Keep wax burners and candles safely out of reach of curious paws.
🤍 Make sure your room is well ventilated so fresh air can circulate.
🤍 Never leave a burning candle or wax burner unattended.
🤍 If your pet seems uncomfortable around any fragrance, extinguish it and allow the room to air.
🤍 Every pet is different, so always pay attention to how they respond.
Home is where everyone should feel comfortable
For me, creating a cosy home has always included creating a home where my cat feels safe, relaxed and loved. Home fragrance should add to that feeling, not take away from it. I believe the best homes are filled with warmth, comfort and the gentle sounds of the animals who share our lives. After all, they're part of our everyday moments too.
