There’s something rather magical about this time of year.
Although summer is still here, little signs of autumn begin to appear. The evenings become a little softer, the mornings a little cooler, and before long, my mind starts wandering towards pumpkins, cosy fragrances and everything I love about the season.
Behind the scenes at Melting Moments, autumn actually begins long before the first leaf falls.
While many people are still enjoying sunny afternoons, I'm already surrounded by pumpkins, ghost moulds, fragrance oils and pages of ideas waiting to become something special. It's the season when my workshop slowly transforms into a little corner of autumn.
This year has been particularly exciting because I've been adding each new product to the website as it's been created. Every photograph, every description and every collection has been carefully thought through. I wanted the website to feel as though you were stepping into autumn the moment you arrived.
There have been plenty of cups of tea along the way, of course.
Wilma has been working hard, pouring melt after melt while I experiment with fragrances and decide which designs make the final collection. Harris has supervised the whole process from his favourite spot, occasionally wandering in to make sure everything is progressing as it should!
One of my favourite parts isn't actually making the melts. It's imagining where they'll end up.
Perhaps a pumpkin wax melt will become part of someone's Sunday reset. Maybe a little ghost will be melted during a cosy film night, or a gift box will arrive on someone's doorstep to brighten an autumn afternoon.
Those are the moments I think about while I'm creating each collection. Because autumn has never just been about pumpkins or Halloween decorations.
For me, it's about slowing down. Lighting a wax melt after a busy day. Wrapping up in a cosy blanket. Listening to the rain outside with a warm drink in your hands. Finding comfort in the little routines that make a house feel like home.
As I prepare for another autumn season, I can't help but feel incredibly grateful that I get to create products that become part of those moments.
